In Kamen Rider Zero One, boss baby Aruto clashes with loose cannon Fuwa! An entirely unqualified CEO who tries to follow ethical codes and improve quality of life, versus an aggressive militaristic cop desperately fighting against corporate cover-ups and malpractice. I'm... not sure who's in the right, here? Let's sit down and think about this.
Gokaiger coverage starts around 37:30 ! If you hear jaunty chiptunes, you're in the right place.
Then in Pirate Sentai Gokaiger, our main characters reminisce about their favorite show, Pirate Sentai Gokaiger. A clip show and entirely perfunctory tribute ep! Not terrible by any means, but boy are they about to hit that ramp.
FEATURING: That early-series CGI budget you gotta love! Gokaiger reacts to Gokaiger! Basco winking to the camera as he whispers "next episode, baby"! LET'S MAKE A SHOW OF IT!

Kamen Rider Zero One episode 01! AI rights, police brutality, transhumanism, corporate coverups, the nature of consciousness, THERE'S A LOT IN THIS DANG SHOW! It's fast, it's beautiful, it's exciting. Please, please don't get terrible like halfway through.
Gokaiger coverage starts around 30:10 ! If you hear jaunty chiptunes, you're in the right place.
When we last left our heroes... well, most of them were dead or captured. So at the very least, Doc can't make it much worse? Still, can he figure out a way to save the team JUST IN TIME FOR CHRISTMASSSS? CHRISTMAS EPISODE! It's okay. Not as good as Monster Wolf Man's Huge Murder Party.
Gaim coverage starts around 40:45 ! If you hear some downtempo jams, you're in the right place.
Team Gaim infiltrates the forest of Helheim, and discover the truth: nobody cares about street dancing to such an extent that they are a viable platform for testing mil-spec superscience in broad daylight. Ouch. Oh, and Yggdrasil corp is probably evil, but you could probably guess that. Merry Christmas!
FEATURING: The subtle comedic genius of Ab Buster Taro! Basco immediately showing why you shouldn't trust him with anything! Team Gaim actually dancing, for what might be the last time in a while! LET'S MAKE A SHOW OF IT!

I'm going to get some Zero One specific theme music ASAP, but the site I used went down hopefully temporarily, so you got this for now. ...And it's even thematic, since Zero One's opening doesn't premiere until ep 3! Eyyyyyy, how appropriate.

In Pirate Sentai Gokaiger, Daddy's home.
Gaim coverage starts around 22:15 ! If you hear some downtempo jams, you're in the right place.
Then in Gaim, there are inves loose in the city attacking people. Team Gaim do their best to hunt them down, and smack face-first into a sinister conspiracy, complete with flamethrowers. About ten episodes in, our main characters begin to realize that these extra-dimensional monsters and powered armored suits sold by shady dudes in fruit bars for teenage dance battles might, just MIGHT, not be entirely above board.
All that, and an exciting announcement about a change in coverage that's coming soon! Can you tell we didn't plan things incredibly great? But the call of fresh takes for fresh Toku is irresistible around these parts. Check Over Time's website, you can already get the first couple episodes of KAMEN RIDER ZERO ONE!
FEATURING: The Emperor of literally everything! Don Dongoier, dragonslayer! A rare case of too few cops in one of these shows! LET'S MAKE A SHOW OF IT!

We continue our coverage of SSSS Gridman, and also continue having two hosts with very different takes. Harry is charmed by the beautiful animation, laid back atmosphere, and presentation. Sam is infuriated by the concept of mystery in a television series, and basically just wants them to shoot Akane in the head. We squabble, continue to squabble, and bring up Bioshock Infinite like nobody ever should. This is an episode we made, and we'll make a different one next time. Watch this video though, it's cool:

In Pirate Sentai Gokaiger, it's back to school for the Gokaigers! And they do so great, it's like five whole minutes before the building is littered with explosive devices. Then it's time for the Timeranger tribute episode, and if you're looking to preserve the space time continuum, maybe don't give a time machine to the crew whose first response to every situation is violence. Not that Time Yellow has the highest of grounds to stand on in terms of self control, as we soon see.
Gaim coverage starts around 22:15 ! If you hear some downtempo jams, you're in the right place.
Bravo is here, and he's going to teach these dang kids a thing or two about the nature of combat. The fact that they don't want to fight, never wanted to fight, just kind of wanted to dance on these premade dancing stages, is no excuse. Then, more rips in space time! Those are popping up a lot, huh? Probably nothing to be concerned about.
FEATURING: Yet another reminder of why time travel is always the worst plan! Bravo, Bravo, Bravo! The origin for Baron's desire to be STRONG! LET'S MAKE A SHOW OF IT!

In Kamen Rider Gaim, Baron's A+ interpersonal skills get him into a bit of trouble. Turns out when all you do is bully and berate your underlings, they may decide to just get together and stomp your strong self into the pavement. Then, the show decides to do some explicit LGBT representation and hooooo boy. Hooo boy, do they go for it. It's... not that bad, I think! Takes may vary, but I say bravo to Bravo.
Gokaiger coverage starts around 36:34 ! If you hear jaunty chiptunes, you're in the right place.
In Pirate Sentai Gokaiger, Walz Gil tries. He really tries this time.
FEATURING: An accurate depiction of Sam trying to play a team game! Metal Yoshida elevating this piece with his acting chops! Weird mech body horror! LET'S MAKE A SHOW OF IT!

In celebration and mourning of us doing this for a whole dang year, we decide to take a quick break and look at a couple toku episodes released around each of the hosts' births! And in doing so remind ourselves that old tokusatsu is wacky and fun as heck.
Then, we cap things off with a quick thought experiment, generating an original series out of randomly generated numbers, locations, and amazon products. Injection Mould Master, ready to grill evil in the forests of saskatchewan!

Sunday Aug 04, 2019
Sunday Aug 04, 2019
Gokaiger starts us out with a two part tribute, and... they probably could have done this in one. Still, we get a brief glimpse into the terrifying Sentai multiverse, and some horrifying mechanized body horror. It's a real B.O.M.P.E.R. this week, as we approach the end of Act 2 of this series.
Gaim coverage starts around 25:12 ! If you hear some downtempo jams, you're in the right place.
In a totally unexpected twist, the extremely extra rival gang / dance troupe leader obsessed with strength and proving oneself through combat gets one of those belts and wants to rumble. Meanwhile, Kouta delves deeper into the mystery forest, encountering the Melon Knight who just beats the everloving hell out of him. Just maybe, there may be something untoward going on in this city ruled by a faceless corporation, where dance troupes compete with extradimensional monsters. But the main thing that happens here is Kouta's sister Akira giving a big old speech that doesn't make sense, totally dumps on everything he's trying to do in life, and just crushes the poor kid emotionally. Heaven's Tornado the 2nd is here, and it wants you to get a real job.
FEATURING: President for life Santa! A serious misunderstanding of how a lance is used! Kouta's sister just being the worst! LET'S MAKE A SHOW OF IT!

In Pirate Sentai Gokaiger, a newly healed Gai goes through a rough patch, but is emotionally mature enough to mostly deal with it on his own anyways. Then Luka meets a mysterious figure from her childhood days, and you know what that means: more depressing flashbacks. But Luka's still great.
Gaim coverage starts around 26:10 ! If you some downtempo jams, you're in the right place.
We begin our coverage of Kamen Rider Gaim! We start with a giant war between armored superheroes on horseback and motorcycles, leading armies of mechs and mutated soldiers, colliding in eternal struggle. Cut to a city quietly controlled by a faceless corporate conglomerate, where young teams of dancers fight interdimensional pokemon battles to control the streets and get internet cred. Rips in reality! Kid-friendly arms dealers! Transforming belts! THESE ARE THE BORING EPISODES!
FEATURING: Kirihiko again, yaaay! A mad libs assortment of motifs and visual themes! Some not terrible dancing! LET'S MAKE A SHOW OF IT!
