In Kamen Rider Zero One, it feels like even the writers were getting a little tired of the ongoing metaplot, so it's time for a charmingly silly dating escapade. Jack getting roasted to his face, Yua finally getting to do something, Izu teaching swears, it's all here!

In Kamen Rider Gaim, Kouta just wants to save Micchy! In response, Kaito turns to everybody and says he's the protagonist now, and anybody who disagrees can suck it. Sadly, the only ones who do are the writers.
In the end, we both decide to talk about Kamen Rider OOO for a bit. It's a good show, in exactly the ways that Gaim isn't. Watch it, folks.

In Kamen Rider Zero One, one of our hosts is infuriated by the inaccurate and terrible portrayal of the Japanese legal system, until he does some research and is then infuriated by the accurate and terrible reality of the Japanese legal system. It sucks, gang! What also sucks is Jack, the smug rich jerk who is behind literally everything bad in this series, and Aruto is starting to realize this. Jack's response is to... give him a massive power-up? For reasons. We assume.

In Zero One, the two parter concludes in a relatively expected fashion. The main highlight here is me absolutely failing to rein in some speech patterns in a way that melts my brain so hard, we have to rename a character. So now the handsome villainous CEO is Jack! That's totally an original name I didn't realize was taken immediately after it was too late to change it.

In Kamen Rider Gaim, it's time to sit Kouta down and get him to understand that Micchy is evil. This is a surprisingly hard task, even when the explanation is coming from, I kid you not, MICCHY.

In Kamen Rider Zero One, another contest! It's the cut-throat world of real estate, by which I mean both competitors are already turning into evil robots and attacking people. Also, more mystery surrounding the figure handing out Raid Riser belts! Unless you do some basic fact checking like one of the hosts has, and knowing what's coming is kind of improving things in my opinion! Good show! I like it!

In Kamen Rider Zero One, Gai's character is slowly being revealed. And he's less of a scheming mastermind than a driven effective CEO, which is at best a lateral move on the "evil" scale. Also, more developments with shadowy forces stalking our heroes! I have not one but TWO theories! Which is good, because one was disproven more or less immediately after we recorded the podcast.

In Kamen Rider Zero One, Gai's rider form is amazing and we are literal children about some naming choices.

In Kamen Rider Gaim, things are getting so dire that Kaito is suddenly the reasonable one. Sid is trusting Micchy to have his back, Yoko is trusting Ryouma to lead Yggdrasil corporation, and Mai is trusting Kouta to care about his own well being for once in his life. It's not the end of the world, but you can see the suit upgrades that get us there, starting right the heck now.
Me opening another episode with a hugely embarrassing story! Sam's maximally dubious clothing choices! Starting off the new year, Kamen Rider Zero One is... taking a break, apparently? So straight to Gaim.
To hunt down the treacherous Sid, Kouta must turn to his most loyal and stalwart companion! Who he thinks is Micchy, but actually Kaito is an increasingly solid bro in this stretch of episodes. Somebody's gotta keep this protagonist alive, and he's sure as hell not doing it. Then there's a movie to advertise, so let's meet our new robot friend that Kouta's sister is wayyyy into.
Then we chat about Tokusatsu pencil and paper roleplaying games, basically deciding that there aren't enough and maybe we should make one? But in the mean time we might do some actual play podcasts of stuff we like because... well, because we want to.
